P.F.C. ALBERT P. IODICE

A TRUE AMERICAN HERO

PFC Albert P. Iodice, was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1943 as an 18 year old man. He served his basic training in Camp Croft S.C.  Deployed shortly thereafter with the 36th Infantry Division, 141st Regiment, Company G. to Hammerstein Germany. He was ultimately part of the infamous, Rapido River Crossing massacre. The 36th Infantry Division suffered 2,877 casualties including 1,681 KIA. PFC Iodice was wounded and captured during that battle and remained a P.O.W. in Casino Italy for a year and half, working 16 hour days, 7 days a week, tending to live stock and working in the fields. Ultimately, the P.O.W. camp was liberated by U.S. forces and PFC Iodice returned home to Newton. He has been married to Antoinette (Delgizzi) Iodice for 65 years. He is a TRUE AMERICAN HERO.
